60s Discotheque with DJ Tony the Tape

What did your Grandpa and Grandma rave to in the 1960s? Or if you are as ancient as Old Father Larkhall you will remember the hits as if they were only yesterday. Rave to the dance numbers from the days when the words in songs meant something as our amazing local DJ Tony the Tape rounds off what is bound to be a pretty hilarious evening with some 60s vibes to strut your stuff to.

Slake your thirst at the bar and stave off the hunger of the night with the delicious snacks on offer.

Speakeasy Spoken Word Spectacular

Friday 4th May
Bladud’s Head
Doors 7:30pm

A regular on the spoken word circuit and organiser of Hammer and Tongue Bristol, Thommie Gillow showcases her new published collection of poetry ‘Milked’, following her journey to new motherhood. We will also be entertained and delighted by the voices of Bath Spa’s Callum Wensley and Sophie Dumont.

Bring along your offerings for the open mic – anecdotes, poems, tall tales, short stories, book excerpts, and we’ve even had a limerick or two!

Organiser Jo Butts is asking people to bring a poem (or multiples) on a postcard which she will collect on the Speakeasy night which she will then go and hide in random books in Beaufort Bookshop for customers to find from the Saturday of the festival and beyond. Customers can then go and either take them or re-hide. They don’t need to be original work but do need to be clean as it’s a family bookshop!

Come promptly to the Friday night event for open mic places.
