Larkhall Festival Boules 2017

This years boules tournament takes place on Monday 1st May on the Boules Playing Area in Alice Park. Come along and have some French style fun!

It’s a triples tournament with teams of 3 players (playing squad maximum of 5 for the tournament duration) competing for the The Rose and Crown Trophy

At least 1 person per team will need to register at the organiser’s table in the park between 10am and 10.50am for an 11.30 start. We will break for lunch at about 1.30 and finish about 5.30 pm.

Entry Fee: £1 per player (under 16s, 50pence, but must be supervised on and around the playing area by an adult at all times). Payment on the day at registration please.

The format/method of organising the event will be determined on the day according to number of entries, weather etc. There will be prizes for winners and losers.

Dress: In French Style, of course. (at least something red, white and blue, although be prepared for English style weather!) Flat sole shoes are best. Prize for best dressed players.

Players should bring own boules. 2 boules per player needed, but some spares will be available to hire or buy. Player substitutions may be made during matches but only between ends.

Beginners, don’t worry, rules of play will be explained but you’ll very quickly get the hang of it all. Help and advice will be readily available. There’ll be lots of other exciting things going on in the park and around the café on the day: live music etc. Refreshments available all day at the park café.

Organised by The Bath Grand Cru Petanque Club and The Bath League de Petanque on behalf of The Larkhall Festival.

Launch of the Larkhall Festival Soapbox Derby

The Larkhall Festival Soapbox Derby is an open-to-all race for teams made up of a mixture of adults and children. Enter homemade carts of your own design to stake your place on the winner’s podium! We actively promote creative and crazy designs for all carts and there will be a prize for the best cart, but don’t worry if you’re not feeling too creative, carts can be anything from an old painted wheelbarrow to a more elaborate design of your choice.

All carts entered into the race must be entirely home-made and powered completely by hand or foot – unassisted by motors. Each cart should have a minimum crew of one child.

The carts will gather at the front of the Bladud’s head from 13:00 and the race, to the chequered flag at the Larkhall Inn will start at 14:00

So come on ladies, gentlemen and children of Larkhall, get building and lets have some fun!!
