Soapbox Derby 2018

Sunday 6th May

  • 1.30pm – registration commences in Larkhall Square for entrants
  • 2.15pm – parade to start line, opposite Bladud’s Head
  • 3pm – first race

The Larkhall Soapbox Derby is a family event for adult & child teams racing in handmade karts of your own design. Whether it’s a few tassels on a wheelbarrow or a ‘designed from the ground up’ racing chariot, all are welcome!

The two main requirements are:

  • every team must have a child passenger (max. 2), and
  • the Soapbox must be homemade and pushed by an adult – unassisted by motors.

In the build-up to the race, the team will be hosting a Workshop where there will be space & tools to use to help you build your Soapbox, as well as advice & a helping hand or two from the team.

The Workshop will be held in the Larkhall Liberal Club Skittle Alley on Saturday 21st April from 12pm to 4pm.

To assist in the running of the race, each team entering will be asked to make a suggested donation of £5 at Registration, and to sign a waiver form.
