Important update to the Soapbox Derby
The Larkhall Festival Committee and Event Team regret to announce that this year’s Soapbox Derby has been cancelled. Unfortunately, as with many other similar events around the country, it has been difficult to source the insurance cover that is required. The Team are extremely disappointed as the Derby has been a highlight of recent festivals, with so many members of the local community turning out to both race and cheer from the side-lines.
The Team are exploring new avenues with the aim of bringing the Derby back next year, bigger and better than before, and would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped to make the event what it is. Further details will be posted here on the Festival website as they emerge.
For this year’s festival, the road closures on Sunday afternoon, May 3rd, will still go ahead, as there will be a colourful nature-themed Parade. All are welcome, and there will be prizes awarded for Best Costumes – so put your thinking hats on, find a needle & thread and start making! The Village Square will also be open on the Sunday afternoon and hosting music, food and street games.
We look forward to seeing you there.
