Look out for displays in local shops. To mark the 50th Anniversary of the release of the iconic Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper album, this year’s theme is The Beatles, 1960s, flower power – plenty of scope for our imaginative shopkeepers.

Treasure Hunt, All weekend, around Larkhall
Ever popular, we have been busy knitting and crocheting items with a Beatles/1960s theme. They are hidden in the windows of participating shops. Pick up a leaflet from New Oriel Hall.

Great Larkhall Bake-Off, 2 – 5 pm, New Oriel Hall
Drop your baked item off at New Oriel Hall between 12 – 1 pm, and you could be Larkhall’s answer to Mary Berry! We are pleased to announce that Jane Middleton has agreed to judge the bake-off. Jane is a cookery editor and writer who has worked with authors such as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Paul Hollywood, Nigel Slater and Yotam Ottolenghi. She reviewed for national restaurant guides for many years and appeared as a regional judge alongside Matthew Fort on The Great British Menu.

Art competition, 11 am – 3 pm, St Marks School main hall
Taking this year’s Festival theme of the 1960s, St Mark’s School have organised an art competition for all pupils in the Valley Schools to explore this era through art and create their own unique version of Sixties inspired artwork. There will be a range of free art and crafts workshops for kids including making hats for the parade. Resources and entry forms are available to download from their website:

There will be a fab 1960s theme Vintage Cafe selling a range of hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes and filled rolls etc.

Ramshackle Orchestra – A Tribute to Nina Trott, 8.30 – 9 pm, New Oriel Hall
Multi-generational, multi-instrumental Ramshackle Orchestra was created by violin teacher and arranger Nina Trott, who sadly died last year. It has an eclectic repertoire of Celtic folk, gypsy tunes, Klezmer laments, and airs from as far as Hungary and Transylvania.

A great high-energy Rhythm & Blues band – get down and dirty on the dance floor for a frantic finish to Festival Saturday night!!
