New Oriel Hall Group Exhibition

Brought up in Northumberland, where dramatic landscapes with vast skies and a very cold wind, stirred in me a lifelong fascination to capture this emotive tableau.

 Living now in the South west, I have exhibited for many years. I take inspiration from the environment around me and the play of light and colour within the landscape.

 My artistic journey, since the 1980’s has been a vastly changing experience.

From photo realism to life drawing through to semi abstract landscape painting, to finally arriving at total abstraction.

 Working in layers, I experiment or rather battle, with the complexities of conception. I try to keep simplicity at the forefront of what I create and am intrigued by the way colour and mark contribute to creating a composition that sings.
