The images I am exhibiting in my studio have been created with chalks and or paints. I have particularly enjoyed exploring the use of inks and watercolours to create dramatic tonal contrasts. The watercolour paint has allowed me to become much more free and flowing in movement.

I have always liked to work quickly and instinctively, endeavouring to capture a moment in time. But as I have progressed, I have learnt that composition is key. I have realised that it is good to work instinctively but to stop and look and critique myself more along the way, I have tried to be more considered and mindful of what is working and what is not.

I also enjoy exploring colour and like to use bold contrasts to create more dramatic captivating images. Much of my work is figurative. I find the human figure an endlessly interesting flowing form to paint and have become very interested in overlaying images to create depth and more abstract pictures which are searching for new form and shape.

I also draw and paint outside a lot. The garden with its illuminated leaves and flowers contrasting against gloomy dark backgrounds has always interested me.
