I work directly onto end-grain wood with loose drawings from ideas that I have been refining mentally. Recently I have constructed large-scale collages with hundreds of pieces cut from my past engravings.

Hilary Paynter MBE is an internationally renowned artist. Her wood engravings cover a wide range of subjects from dramatic landscapes to political satire.  Recently she collaborated on a book with writer Max Porter “The Hill” inspired by their walks on Solsbury Hill.
